WELCOME TO MY PERSONAL WEBSITE

My name is Subhajit Ghoshal and I am a PhD Student in Department of Geography at the University of South Carolina and currently working as a Graduate Research Assistant in the department. My research interest focuses on the use of GIS, Remote Sensing and spatial analysis in the study of Fluvial Geomorphology and flood hazards.
I am a physical geographer interested in formulating and developing Image processing algorithms and integrating them with GIS tools in applied fields of fluvial geomorphology for improved interpretation and understanding of processes that control and contribute to Earth surface systems. Satellite remote sensing and geographic information systems are emerging technologies in geomorphology. They offer the opportunity to gain fresh insights into fluvial systems through the spatial, temporal, spectral, and radiometric resolutions of remote sensing systems and through the analytical and data integration capability of GIS. The two technologies can be linked together into a synergistic system that is particularly well suited to the examination of landscape conditions through the interrelationships of scale, pattern, and process, a paradigm that has gained prominence in the fields of fluvial geomorphology and landscape ecology.
